Let us pray.
O God who etched in us the image of your face, so that looking within we might desire your beauty even more, grant us in the journey ahead to find in darkness no light but your light, in solitude no city but your kingdom, in thirst no quenching fountain but your love, and in pain no face of hospitality but your own; that in our pilgrimage through this desert of prayer we may know you as much in the hot, arid sandstorm as in the cool, shady oasis; through Jesus Christ our Lord who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
